In 2008 a nice man named Jerry Bennett campaigned to become the Democratic congressman from the 3rd Congressional District of Illinois. According to Jerry, he spent his entire life in the 3rd district of Illinois, which includes the Southwest Side of Chicago. At the time of his campaign he lived in Palos Hills, also part of the 3rd district.

Mr. Bennett has been a businessman in this district for 40 years, and actually served as the mayor of Palos Hills for 27 of those years. He worked together with other mayors of adjacent towns to help improve and develop the area. On top of the agenda for infrastructure development was improved building infrastructure, better law enforcement and creating a safer, more secure environment for families.

Jerry Bennett can boast that he was the co-founder of the Southwest Conference of mayors, and the chairman of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.  Not long ago Jerry Bennett’s colleagues voted him to be their representative as the President of the Illinois Municipal League.
